Title:
Why Artichokes Are Harvested Before They Bloom ๐ŸŒฟ

Description:
Look, this green fruit-like vegetable youโ€™re seeing is called an artichoke. Itโ€™s actually a cool-weather crop and is harvested while it is still in its tight bud stage.

Farmers carefully pick it at this stage because once the artichoke fully blooms into a purple flower, it becomes tough and unsuitable for eating. The tender bud is the edible and most valuable part, which is why itโ€™s harvested at the right time and then sent to the market fresh.

Timing is everything โ€” harvesting it in its proper form ensures better taste, texture, and quality for consumers.

  1. Why are you cutting off the leaves? Just boil the whole thing, peel off each leaf, dip the fleshy end in a little mayo and slide the flesh off with your bottom teeth. That's how we eat them in California…they're delicious
