Found in Monroe NC, some sort of green beans??


hey all, visiting my inlaws in a very pop up suburbs type are and found these in their yard. it makes up like, quite literally their whole lawn so I was curious what it is? looks like some kind of bean, most being green but a few are black (maybe they're dead?)

    Bean family for sure. I’m not personally familiar with NC plants, but possibly a vetch of some sort. In my area Astragalus looks similar to that & the rattlepod Astragalus is toxic. A shrub bearing bean looking pods, Dermatophyllum secundiflorum, which grows here is VERY toxic, so not all bean looking things are vegetables! Finding some which are in flower should help figure out what the genus is.
