So this is my compost spot in the corner of my yard all organic matter. Would like advice on how to make it better and to have it so I can use it for my garden at some point. How often do I water it and how often do I turn it? I have a shovel and pitch fork for that part . I have just mostly let my pile grow without tending it . I would like to know how to tend it properly. Thanks 😊

Need more brown’s (mulch). The more you rotate it the faster it will break down. Building the pile up tall helps as well.

  2. some of it is ready to use and rich.
try to lay browns on the ground and on top sift or scatter some of this on it. and let your soil absorb it.
for the big and not yet decomposed parts; make a fresh pile. add some browns if you can. i don’t have any browns for my cold compost tbh. when some of it looks ready i distribute it around the garden.
i try to lay ductile sticks and roots first. then fine-ish compost on top.
