  1. I just got back from a trip to Florida (Sebastian area) where in February they experienced three nights below freezing. What a mess of dead plants everywhere! We came home to a overnight low of 23 F. Fortunately, in CT zone 6a, temps like that are not catastrophic but hopefully there will be no more.

  2. ive been watching some of you very old videos and its cool to see how much you presentation has improved and the channel has changed! also here in south ga, we havent had rain for months only 4 inches this year 66% below average so far this year. i have a huge row of azaleas that i cannot really water effectively and i have had a few of them already die. should i prune them down? they are done flowering

  3. Hi Jim and Stephanie at minute 6:45 u spoke about the azalea which I here in Westchester NY Z6B do u think that the up and down frost would effect the buds opening up?

  4. Your garden’s looking great, as is mine. One thing not to be overlooked for all NC gardeners, the entire state is under a severe drought now, so I took advantage of the lower dew point and reasonable temps, and watered my entire yard today, including all perennials, before the advent of 90 degree heat expected next week with no foreseeable rain in the forecast.

  5. I have 3 autumn lilac plants in front of my house in Clayton NC that are very healthy but only bloom once in spring. I only trim back very lightly after they bloom. Wish they bloomed twice but they don’t. Just covered with blooms in spring tho. Beautiful plant.

  6. Hello, Mr Jim putnam and Stephany ,beautiful garden πŸ˜€ so nice to see you guys..Happy gardening, and have a great day. πŸƒ πŸƒ πŸƒ.

  7. I know that Encore Azaleas need full sun to bloom. In reality how much sun does your Autumn Lilac Encore Azalea get? That plant is stunning! I LOVE the color. Your garden is particularly beautiful right now!

  8. Still about a month before we even think about planting anything in the ground here in Se MI. Things are showing life but veggies and tender annuals won’t be planted until near Memorial Day. Unless the heat really kicks in early. If it’s anything like the past couple yrs the last frost was the 3rd week of may

  9. Unrelated to this video, but I’m still gonna ask…I hope you all don’t mind. I can’t find that hardwood mulch by Timberline anywhere, so am hoping you can suggest another brand that is just as good?? Thanks!

  10. I got a tokyo tower fringe tree in June 2023 and this year is the first time i see flower buds on it. So exciting!

  11. If you are going tropical might I recommend a colocacia (elephant ear) Thailand giant. It is my most asked about plant in the summer. The leaves get HUGE!!! I have had success finding them from Etsy.

  12. I love white flowers! I always have. I made a small white garden for just white flowering plants and plants with green and white foliage. It's great to see flowers on your Tokyo Tower! I don't see any buds on mine, but mine is much smaller. I've had it in the ground less than two years. I hope as it matures it will produce flowers. I love Big Bloomers! I stopped there on my way home after your open garden event last year and had a great time shopping. I plan to stop there again after your open garden event this year.

  13. We don't have that weigela because Garden Treasures is the only nursery with it in stock but shipping is over $47. For one shrub in a half gallon container πŸ˜‚. So just keep featuring yours so we can live through you

  14. Wow, the Azaleas are gorgeous. I purchased the Autumn Bonfire a few years ago because of you! Glad you still have your's. I was afraid you might have rehomed it. I have had the Autumn Lilac for a few more years and it just doesn't do well, but I keep trying. Thanks, Jim and Steph!

  15. Thanks Jim! the wigela is such a great chartreuse contrast to the dark purple tree in the back there. In my Pacific NW 8B garden, I have a very robust wigela in my shade bed and I cut it back yearly and it comes back strongly with dark magenta flowers and chartreuse foliage. I wonder if they are deer resistant as my front yard is not fenced and we have terrible deer problems in Oak Bay BC.
