Hey, newbie here, I’m looking to scape fig tree inspired trunks on each side of my build, but any ideas how i would go about it?
What type of hands crafted modelling material do you guys use? Is normal modelling clay okay? A specific type of clay? Do i airbrush it once done? Any tips on making specific shapes and roots ect? Let me know! Determined to make it happen.

From what I have seen with others who have executed a similar look, they’re using either styrofoam reinforced with rods for structure then carving, or using drylok and sculpting in a similar fashion to molding concrete. I’m sorry I haven’t done anything this extreme , but you can pull off some awesome stuff with XPS board (styrofoam) and drylok
Serpa design made concrete bark/roots in his recent crested gecko video! He had a tutorial in thay video!
As another has said serpa design made a banyan tree background out of drylock in [this video](https://youtu.be/O81sXpMMzcc?si=LpH2Gfwl9o07D90w)
you can probably make one made out of dried vines you find and random pieces of wood that looks similar
If you really want to go for it this is what Zoos use – https://polygem.com/product/307-lite-sculpting-epoxy
