Getting ready to level and add something around the base. Wondering what the best option would be? Something like crushed granite to deter mice and pests, deciduous plants to shade it in the summer?

I just came here to say that some window boxes with flowers would be ADORABLE here

  3. I have extra racks just outside mine to help harden stuff off and put seedlings out when its not too windy

Looks like a concrete foundation, so some river rock/ crushed granite makes sense around the perimeter. Maybe rake it out and put down a strip of weed fabric first.

We’re all hoping that you’ll add planters (I see a few clay pots) with flowers in the front.

I’m in 5b, at almost 7,000 ft and my greenhouse is in FULL SUN the entire day, lol. North side has shade plants in the ground (we have a wood foundation + pavers inside): coral bells, mint, astilbe and borage on each E/W edge to get sun. South side has strawberries, garlic and 2 raspberry bushes, 1 at each corner. East side has strawberries and blueberries plus we’re actually adding an 8 x 4 raised bed back there this week, about 5 feet from it (along with, hopefully, deer fencing, lol). Front/west side has 2 planter boxes, sow peas & spinach on right side, broccoli & herbs in the left (if I have the door open on hot days, the left box gets a lot less sun).

Hubs built a strawberry “cage” to deter bunnies in the back. I have photos of the bunnies behind it, they love that spot. πŸ˜‚πŸ‡πŸ“

I have shade cloth for inside + a fan (and 2 vents). I wouldn’t plant things that could cause issues down the road. I did plant the 2 raspberries on the south side on purpose because closed up, my greenhouse can easily hit over 100⁰ F, even fall and spring. Unfortunately, our local deer love raspberry plants. And my roses!
