Yes… I use artificial flowers outside. And no, they don’t look fake.

The key is intention. I pair high-end pots with more affordable flowers so the overall look feels elevated. I also mix real plants with artificial ones throughout the yard so your eye naturally believes what it’s seeing.

For this planter, I use a styrofoam base to secure everything, build height with a center dome, and layer in color with different stems. Then I cover it all with dirt and rocks so it looks completely natural and stays in place.

It’s all about creating something that looks beautiful without the constant upkeep. To see all of these flowers in my backyard and for all of the links watch the full video on my channel.

  1. I leaned this about 35 years ago from my sister living in Fresno..I also mix real with fake for all year around appeal.

  2. I got fake outdoor flowers this year. So far they have withstood a big storm and a lot of wind. So I’m happy with them so far.

  3. And, rotate out spring blooms to summer blooms and remove all flowers for winter if they don’t normally grow in winter. Beautiful display.

  4. Im just starting to experiment with the artificial flowers
    I LOVE this so far
Im wanting to ok start putting in bigger pots
    THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH🎉🎉🎉

  5. If you add some floral scentsicles to the pots, it makes them smell real too. This is my first time using fake flowers on my front porch and the fragrance sticks make it smell incredible.

  6. I’m doing the same thing this year, with great-looking artificial flowers, to cut down on work. I love your home! It has a very similar character to my 100-year-old fieldstone house, with the same CertainTeed Grand Manor shingles, ornate fencing and all the copper work. Very expensive, but worth it! Enjoy!

  7. Going to hobby lobby today… thank you for this great tip! I do use fake flowers but they always tip over… We'll get some green Styrofoam! Thank you thank you😊

  8. I’m more fascinated by how Rebecca kept her white blouse CLEAN! 😊 Great idea as usual.

  9. You mention about cheap pots making flowers 🌹💐🌺🌷🌼🪻look cheap, well those pots of yours look 👀 cheap!
Flowers look great though, top idea 💡

  10. I love the oversized sun hat.
    Has she done this before?
Wearing a white shirt, using real dirt with fake plants!

  11. I use fake flowers directly placed in the dirt and looks fabulous without buying Styrofoam.

  12. You could also paint that half-globe brown…cheap paint and brush…we're either at home or camp during the summers and it's difficult to keep potted flowers lush and healthy…I may turn to faux florals this summer…thank you.

  13. I used spray foam to stick my artificial flowers into. I filled most of the planter with cheap dirt. Spray foam. Spray painted the foam green.

The foam sticks to the side of planter.
Then hot glued the plant stems into the foam for extra strength to withstand the wind in Western Nebraska.

    It worked well.

  14. LOVE Your Beautiful Hat 👒
I Love Gardening as well, the past 4 years has caused a halt for me concerning Planting Authentic Greenery 🌹🌺🌷🥀🌼🪻🪴!

  15. I’m sure the 🐝 bees, butterflies 🦋, and hummingbirds if they are in the area just love her, not!

  16. I too love the sun hat! Add a hack to ur hack suggestion… spray paint the foam dome dark brown. Still add dirt but if any of it peeks through it won’t be as obvious. Thanks for the fun idea!

  17. Hi! I LOVE this idea, but I must admit, 🤔 I am not a fan of faux flowers (anymore) especially outside, simply bc it’s so DARN HARD to find good looking, REAL, flowers anymore!! 😢 I used to find them periodically at our two biggest craft (chain) stores here in GA, but they no longer carry the greatest selection, in my humble opinion which makes me very sad. 😔 Will you please, please, share your flower LINKS, 🤞 🙏 … for ALL the flowers that you used, pls? They are really gorgeous looking flowers & I love the colors you chose too! ♥️ So real! 💜 Your combos ARE spot on … & absolutely STUNNING!! 👏 Your tip regarding using nice quality pots is a big & excellent one! It’s all about “painting” ONE BIG, harmonious picture! You can’t fool anymore w/ a flimsy, inexpensive pot bc it’s also a BIG focal part of the total equation! Well done!! You have convinced me to try this & I think you’ve also converted me back to a faux flower 🌺 loving gal! YAY!! 🎉
