I've had this guy for a few years. I love the base and nebari but I'm not too fond of the top. So I was wondering, do I chop it down or keep growing it as a broom style?
I would embrace what the tree is giving you. Looks great. If you want another style, get another tree!

Can anybody explain to me what this subs fetishization of trunk chops is all about???
Like before I found this sub trunk chops was a pretty extreme thing that it was only done in a very extreme cases where problems had propped up or the tree was probably going to die or some other such situation but on this side, it seems like it’s the go to technique for the majority of people
