We recently cut down an old liquid amber and have planted magnolia teddys. This plant keeps popping up. I assume it is a kind of weed because it is so prolific and grows quite big but I’ve never seen it before! Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it once and for all?

Crepe myrtle. Was there a tree/bush there somewhere that was cut down? They are notoriously hard to get rid of and send out suckers prolifically.
Maybe a wax begonia. It’s pretty tame as far as weeds go but it’ll root from any scraps you leave behind, other than that there’s no secret to removal. You can keep it to a ground cover with regular pruning if you like.
