If at least part sun and you’re open to shrubs, we did hazelnuts on a little sloped hillside beside our house because I read they like growing on slopes because of good drainage. And they really seem to love it! We have three bushes. You have to have at least two, ~~one male and one female~~, but we have a lot of fun collecting our tiny little harvest of hazelnuts every fall. We grind them up and make cookies for Thanksgiving every year.
Edit: I remembered, they aren’t male and female (because all three of mine make hazelnuts) rather they just can’t self pollinate.

I transplanted native gooseberry bushes from my little woodsy area. They came from the shadey underbrush, and have done fine in my partial shade from the house.

How much sun? Do you use the space ever?
