I had taken over the care of one of my coworkers plants for a year, and he was doing great.
But then the UNTHINKABLE happened – my coworker RETIRED! And she took my adopted son with her!
I took some cuttings, hoping to propagate, but idk how I'm doing.
Can anyone help me out? I did get succulent specific soil, but it's weird, in my opinion. The water just sits on top of the soil. Is that normal???
Here are pictures of what he looked like when I got him, what he looked like after a year, and the cuttings I took that are worrying me. They've sprouted air roots as well. Please help?

Fill the pot with soil and cut off all the plants at least by half and make more cuttings. Remove the lower leaves off the cuttings. Root in soil or water.
In my experience these are pretty cool proof. Maybe try putting them in water til the roots get strong?
Any possibility of putting them outside? Idk what climate zone you’re in, but in my experience (Mediterranean climate) these are “set it & forget it” plants.
I.e. in general less is more (unless the soil/plant is looking particularly parched, in which case you water it).
