My pigface has been dying off and I just noticed these white things are back, I suspect that’s what caused it last year. I stupidly ignored it and paid the price if that was the cause. Do cut back the dead stuff? And is google image correct and I use white oil on those white things

I get them on my pigface patch, I used to white oil them but now I just pull out the worst effected areas and it tends to right itself.

That’s cottony cushion scale. I’ve just been battling it on my potted calamondin tree. They have a protective waxy covering that can make them difficult to beat sometimes, but you can spray with pyrethrum which breaks through that barrier and kills on contact. Eco-neem oil is another treatment that treats by being soaked into the plant and ingested by the pests when they feed, which disrupts their reproductive cycle. I used both insecticides to beat it on my plants.

Thank you both, I’ll try a combination of those two and some brutal trimming
