I’ve recently cleared a lot of trees and brush and put up a new fence in this area for my dogs in the near future, how can I get rid of the pesky weeds and keep them away while also getting some kind of grass to grow? Ideally without keep having to spray weed killer several times. This is around North Texas area for info, fairly shaded area still but gets some sunlight throughout the day. Any tips or help would be appreciated!

Send your info to Scott’s. Check in with your county agent. Get info. Do what is recommended re: seed and fertilizer. Let the grass take hold before dogs run on it. Probably daily watering will be recommended at start. Get soaking hose. Soak. Giving grass a good start is important — don’t forget to do your part early on. (Next year will be easier.)
