What color of Jersey Giant? Genetics are fun. Rhode Island reds carry what is known as the gold gene. In certain white breeds there is an opposite gene called the Silver gene. This is the basis of what are color sexable chickens. Gold and silver are sex linked so the female offspring gets the fathers color and the male offspring get the mothers. Common breeds are Red Star/Isa Brown/Red Sex link/etc.
If the father was black or blue then it opens up a whole lot of options as they are recessive genes and you can get some funky patterns as typically dormant coloring shows up.
