Hey guys, I would like to check with the experts here on few things about this crimson maple. This tree is 7 years old and was planted deep, so I had to dig it out to the root flare. Bit of caving into the ground but no water collecting at the bottom during summer.
I need advice on how to prune this tree properly. Don't want to do any cuts that will permanently damage it. I think 3 is codominant so it needs to go. Not sure about 4, 5, and 6." Appreciate your inputs.

Do nothing if you aren’t well versed in pruning and training. Hire a pro.

3 is codominant. You can prune it away slowly. So I’d say take 20% and so on every spring or so. As far as the roots and stuffs you’re going to want at least an arborist to take a look at that, can create conditions for root rot and stuff.

    – not an arborist

Remove 1,3,5,6 don’t worry about taking them in increments they are not large enough for that. To reduce the chance of disease cut them as early in spring as possible but by late May.
