I have had a very “fun” morning excavating 2 overgrown Birds of Paradise to make way for a small courtyard and native garden.
I’ve got rid of the central rootball go each plant, but there are still thick, tubular roots disappearing off into the ground.
Is the plant likely to regrow if I leave them in the soil or do I have to chase these buggers to the center of the earth?

I’d be getting rid of all the roots if you don’t want it back.
