Hi! I’ve been in the aquarium hobby for years now, and I’ve just decided to branch out into paludariums. I’m concerned about the drainage layer. I decided to use lava rock but I’m unsure if I need to remove some of it/crush it to allow more room for soil. I will be using something- maybe a coco fiber mat or window mesh?- to separate the lava rock and the substrate. I’ve also used some gravel to plug up spaces between the large rocks and to add some support. I would like some opinions on if I am on the right track with my build or not. Any advice at all is greatly appreciated!
