Hello there. I have an assignment to make one of these and gather information on it for the rest of the term- but I already fucked up. I forgot not to put dead leaves in, and there wasn't enough plants because it's from a river that is still cold. The first day was fine with these blue-green grub like segmented guys, and I came back 2 days later to a massacre, they seem to have multipled and grown really large and then all died out at once.

Assuming either oxygen depletion or ammonia spike. I have some pondweed at the top and moss but thats it, I couldn't find anything esle. I'm talking with my teacher now and I may have to redo it in order to save it, everything is dead and molded over with white stuff, other then what I suspect to be mosquito larvae (white wriggling worm things).

Is there any way I can save this? I plan to probably change the water out some, maybe ask if I can remove the dead leaves. There is also the stick, and a discarded mollusk shell there. I'm trying to find more plants but it depends on weather. Any decomposers I could look for in the river that may eat them up? It was a o2 level of 10 when i checked Monday. I don't have ammonia tests. I want to tey and get the blue things back as they got really big but they just might not be able to handle the bioload. Will take any tips to promote my mini ecosystem for best results of life. Thanks!
