CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — With a deep freeze coming overnight in Central Illinois, one gardening expert said you may want to move certain plants inside.
Steve Brown, the manager of Prairie Gardens in Champaign, said early season vegetables or annuals will be just fine if it gets down to 32 degrees Monday night.

But, if you’ve already planted warm season plants, like tomatoes or peppers, you’ll want to dig them up and bring them inside. If you don’t know what to do, he said it’s best to err on the side of caution.
“Bottom line, if somebody’s put something in the ground or in a pot or container, and they’re not sure, bring it inside or cover it up or protect it,” Brown said. “It’s easy to whisk it inside the garage or whisk it into the house.”
He hopes you remember gardening is regional, and different places will have different conditions for growing.
