I just started seeds (from Etsy) for the Saskatoon variety, I’ve wanted one too ever since I read that book ✨ I didn’t have much luck sourcing a live plant so fingers crossed the seeds sprout. I hope you find one!

They are not native here, and would likely struggle in our long hot and dry summers. Additionally, our winters likely don’t get cold enough to prompt blooming. If I was going to experiment, I’d try Amelanchier utahensis, but species from that part of the U.S. can be intolerant of heavy rainfall at certain times of the year, and may still be fussy about chill hours.
