I have 3 plants in total and this one I think has been too close to the window over winter and has popped out a dead leaf 😒! The other 2 plants are looking okay and stem on this one is healthy so hoping that it’s just a one off! Always feel like a bad plant mum when things like this happen 😒!

I don’t think you can place a monstera too close to the window. I’d say bad luck/timing on that leaf

It’s because you have tied the petiole. The new leaf is damaged because of that. Only ever tie the main stalk. Look up on how to identify the front and backside of a monstera and where to put the support.

In my experience this either happens when water is somehow trapped inside the unfurled leaf and causes it to rot or when there’s some pest like thrips. Have you checked if you see anything tiny moving?

could be any of a few possible causes. if the plant’s clean, no pests, including flat mites (not just spidermites), could be fungal. if you mist, stop the practice. it does NO benefit to any plant. and sets up all sorts of issues and stresses the plant.

could also be just a badly emerging leaf that got fully stuck and began to rot. happens all the time, usually a one off. or mechanical damage that overwhelmed the new tender tissue. doesn’t matter-you should see a new leaf push out right behind it, again, if plant’s healthy, good lighting, dayadayada…

i have adensoniis that do this from time to time, last time it was followed by a doubling in size w/ the next leaf. there are also some fungal/bacterial infections that live inside philos and monsteras, pothos, often in a semi symbiotic type of arrangement. occasionally you’ll see black spot disease symptoms on leaves from this-usually just shows up here/there and the plant deals. sometimes it hits the leaves like this when they emerge.

if it’s flat mites and you treat (standard alcohol/water/soap mix is fine), it’ll bounce back. if it’s fungal/bacterial, and conditions are good, it’ll bounce back. sometimes takes a few tries, even. just be patient, make sure watering is proper, lighting is good, and you should be fine.

    fwiw.
