Saw this plant for the first time today growing under the oaks at the Waterloo Greenbelt. Can anyone ID it for me?

Without doing more research, it looks like something in the Lamiaceae family. It looks very similar to catmint, but I can’t say what it is for sure.

It is def Heartleaf Skullcap, a wonderful native in the mint family with beautiful lavender flowers.

It’s one of my favorite plants. They comes up early spring, have purple stalked flowers that last and last. Not for a pot but need a large amount to flowers to be seen, though they are understated. Then they die back in the fall but generally something to see most of the year. Definitely shade plants. Easy to grow, they multiply on their own. If they spread too widely, easy to pull up. Try them!
