For those that live in the hot and humid deep south, you aren't going to grow 10 foot tall indeterminate tomatoes till October. Those babies are dying in July.
Phenomologically, what are you looking for to tell you it is time to plant tomatoes?
❤❤❤❤
James, Are you planning on getting a dog to guard the garden? We miss a your co-host!
havent seen his vids in awhile, afraid to ask if tuck is still around?
You left out something that ALL of the people who post such stuff leave out. You say to mulch. But then you show yourself putting fertilizer on UNMULCHED plants! If you mulch the 1 inch or more that most of you sat to do, you can't put down fertilizer into the top inch of so of soil because its not accessible. Especially of you're in containers on a patio and don't have a yard to just dump mulch everywhere! Miss Tuck though, he was such a cute dog!
Wood chips is a tertible mulch, its takes tge nitrogen out of the soil
I'm buying a tent I'm in Ohio so I get a lot of cold I paid almost $4 at the store for 2 tomatoes I'm not doing that again that's crazy… Veggies are gonna be the next weed plants at those prices
Got carrots started here Chicago Area.
Picking your tomatoes when they aren't fully ripe can also save them from critters who may take a bite or two out juicy, ripe tomatoes.
I can not accept your way of pricing. I am asking this question many times, without answer. Why your fertilizer price costs 6 times more than Happy Frog all purpose fertilizer? I can buy it in local store 4 lbs bag for 11.20 dollars. You sell your with "discount" for 65 dollars!!!
Another.. I purchased Surround WP 25 lbs 3 years ago for $75, include delivery. Now I found 25 lbs for $99, but you sell the same product in 2 lb bag for $60!!! This is insane😡
Also, I spent time to compare raised beds price you offer with original and a few more products.
I started tomatoes so early in my house – I had to chop them down and started the cut off shoots in water to root them – now I have to wait 7 more weeks to hopefully get them outside – I hope time flies for all of us!! Loved the Tuck tribute xo.
Great information. Thank you. I'm growing 5 different types of tomatoes this year, so this is very helpful.
You should sell tuck statues for the garden.
One minute in, and I'm lost. What's the difference between "determinate" and "indeterminate" tomatoes?
Ugh! Tomato horn worms! The first time I encountered them, I was devastated. I couldn't see what had eaten my plants at first, because of their camouflage. Then I saw the poop on the ground and looked above it to discover a caterpillar so big that I could hear it eating a large green tomato. They ruined my whole crop because I was busy for a few days and didn't get to the garden in the daylight.
Hey James what happened to the new permaculture forest you were working on? I feel like I haven't seen anything about that for a while
9:09 im actually dealing with an opposite issue this year. The greenhouse on my new farm stayed so warm thru winter that I have plants that are struggling with this week of average temperatures as I plant them out.
Its a problem I havent ever experienced before.

Thanks James to remind me why I need to give up planting tomatoes. So much troubles…
❤❤❤❤❤
these videos are good reminders and motivation for me to get my lazy ass into gear and start planting some tomato seedlings in a bit, ty
This video sums up why I am not growing tomatoes this year… I literally get all the problems you show, in random order, I rarely harvest any significant volumes and these plants are a hell lot of work! Low reward, high maintenance. This year I’ll put out sweet corn, cucumbers, squash, hot peppers, potatoes, melons.
There’s something in Rhubarb leaves that’s good for a spray solution for brassicas.
For fruit production you need the P of the NPK in fertilizer as high as possible
❤❤What a timely video, because I recently transplanted a young cherry tomato plant into an empty coffee tin. I’m in Southern California, a warm zone so perfect for growing tomatoes.❤
I miss Tuck😢 He was such a dapper gentleman. ❤
❤❤❤
Love to see those glimpses of dear Tuck. He looked so much like my darling dog (I dreamt of her last night.)
Thank you for the video James and Happy Easter.
