A local nursery opened today and I picked up some ephemerals! Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica), Dutchman’s breeches (Dicentra cucullaria), and bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis).
The bluebells and trillium I currently have are doing really well so I’m expanding my ephemeral garden!

From what I’ve seen, bloodroot can usually persist into the fall, so it’s not actually a true spring ephemeral. Its leaves can get surprisingly large as well.
