We have a large cactus outside our home that, by all accounts, appears to be healthy and growing.

However, there is a white growth near the base. Is it any cause for concern?

    It’s just corking and/or lichen. All is well, and there is nothing to worry about. Beautiful cactus!

    I love posts like these.

    So often, I see posts asking about the health of a dead cactus.

    What you have, is a rare, very old cactus. It has gotten to the point of forming a trunk and turning into a Tree. All cactus dream of becoming what yours has. Keep doing what you are doing.
