Five-foot tall gnomes are headed to Columbus to help mark a local garden club’s milestone birthday.
“As you may have heard, it’s our 60th anniversary!” the German Village Garten Club announced April 3 on social media. “So we’re doing it up big. You may be familiar with the painted pigs of Chicago or the racehorses in Kentucky, but we’re going a little more German with ours.”
The large woodland creatures will be hand painted by local artists and carved in Ohio. The club is looking for local artists to paint the gnomes, local businesses to host them and sponsors, according to the social media post.
The gnomes are part of a campaign for “tourism, scavenger hunts and family fun,” according to the club.
