I didn’t realise I was supposed to cut Polnareff back, he’s going to outgrow me at this rate. I live in the wet old North of England, so can’t set him loose on my back garden either 😠I don’t know if I have the heart to give him a chop now, what’s the alternative? 😅
Also, I know the paint is bubbled. I repotted but didn’t glaze the whole pot; (am big dumb) I’m waiting for him to recover before switching. I’ve got some led lights for him too, since he’s too big to fit in the window now, or will that make him even bigger?
The taproot was insane, I love plants 🪴
Edit, swipe for bb post back in 2020.

leds will probably make him bigger if hes only been getting light from a window
I’m impressed it got that big and thick being inside. An unglazed pot is better for a cactus anyway so I wouldn’t worry about glazing it.
Are the bubbles in the room with us? 😂
Just kidding around, the wall looks fine my friend.
My lord houseplant mfs and their incessant desire to chop up plants, i will never understand it.
You’re not “supposed” to chop it up. It *can* be, which is stressful, and the base will branch and the tip can be propagated… but all new segments & propagates will grow exactly like this. Because pilos are columnar cacti. You can grow it outdoors in the summer
You have to cut them back? I have one that looks the same and is getting quite tall. What’s the reason for cutting it back and what does it look like after it’s started growing again?
Just use some wall anchors and loop screws with a little garden twine or a larger diameter fishing line if you want less visible to make sure she doesn’t topple foreward. Maybe up pot but there’s no need to chop unless you want more smaller ones to put around the house which could be fun. Looks happy where it is! The led lighting will help keep it from elongating if you place it above and give it a decent amount of intensity. I’ve had heavily stretched barrel cacti front the local greenhouse that looked like upside down teardrops turn into proper spheres in weeks once under good lighting.
