Someone chucked these on the side of the road? And there’s more of them?? They must really hate this plant

If they are yellow flag iris they are invasive in many waterways, but I have no idea on the variety with the given photos

I ordered a sampler of different iris varieties about thirty years ago, and they went from little starts to big mats, containing hundreds of starts. The masses of iris were beautiful, no doubt about it, but at some point you need to divide the plants and renovate the garden. I put out big cardboard boxes of iris by the road, and thankfully someone wanted them and took them home. I hope they bring joy.

Looks like Iris. They spread pretty easily. I fill up and throw away a 20 gallon bucket full of these things every spring. I’m sure those were the same situation. lol

You could pot them and see, that way no risk to your yard if there’s some issue

That’s iris. I’ll thin out 90% of it in the flower bed and it comes right back after 5 years.

Bearded Iris.
Someone was dividing their clumps and left the extra rhizomes out for free, it appears.

I 2nd Iris. I have some I found on an old homesite. One curious thing is that the ‘travel’. By that I mean they move away from the place I planted them, have to move them back yearly. (From a foot or 2 away.) Does this mean something in the soil is lacking? *Also pls advise if my question should be asked somewhere else.*

My inlaws down the street neighbor had the most beautiful pink bearded iris!
The next time I came over they concreted over the whole planter. I missed on those irises and Im still so mad!

LOL this reminds me when I decided to rip ALL of my iris out of the yard and rather rudely force them on my gardening neighbors. I had at least a wheelbarrow full 😅

Random but was this in Phoenixville? A friend of mine had an excess of purple iris growing that they dug out and were giving away.
There is a lovely British lady on YouTube that taught me how to orient the tubers when planting so you can have the flowers bloom in the direction you want. I used to just plant them however but now they look more intentional and showey. Everyone comments on how nice mine look.

Iris. I been fighting them for 3 years lol. Hard to get rid of. They spread very easily. Very resilient. At least they are beautiful!
Definitely Iris imo
You’re in for a treat! I had a flower bed full of yellow iris once. They can grow up to over 4 ft

I plugged your photo into my plant ID app, and it says bearded. I use this app a lot, and it’s very rarely wrong (PictureThis).
