Looking for structure advice—zone 9b, 110°F summers
Question
· Torn between high tunnel vs wooden shed (modified with windows/vents)
· Heard polycarbonate greenhouse won’t work in this heat
· Are these my only options? What would you recommend?
(Kokedama pics for inspiration—thanks in advance!)
Situation:
· Out of room indoors; need separate workspace
· 13 ft deep × 22 ft long space between house & cinderblock wall → humid microclimate
· July winds from west along the 13 ft side
· Gravel ground
Needs:
· Create & store tropicals (zones 9–11) + kokedama/bonsai supplies
· Manage thrips/mites → need airflow + agricultural screening
· I anticipate I will need a Solar exhaust fan + one fan per side. I anticipate using 150-micron hole size (81 x 81 mesh) for windows / vents to keep pests at bay.
I will be spending a lot of time in here working.
Structure considerations
· 10×10 or 8×12, min 7 ft ceiling
· Half gets afternoon shade from tree; can add 70% shade cloth above structure if needed
· Not DIY-friendly → prefer prefab with modifications
· Budget ~$3k (temporary; will grow with business!)
What do you suggest?

Try a cattle panels greenhouse, mine is 10×24
