TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – You can tiptoe through the tulips – or sprint, if that’s more your speed! – at the annual Run for the Roses.

The event supports the Kansas State University Gardens.

Terry Olson and Jan Stewart with Friends of the K-State Gardens visited Eye on NE Kansas to share information about the run and another event to support the blooms.

The Run for the Roses 5K and 1 mile routes take participants through the KSU campus. Money from the event is used to plant more than 15,000 bulbs that are expected to be in bloom for this year’s run. It also supports year-round upkeep and special projects at the garden.

The Run for the Roses 5K Run and 1K walk gets underway at 9 a.m. April 25 at the Kansas State University Gardens, 1500 Denison Ave. in Manhattan.

Registration is $40 through April 19, $45 after. It is $25 for students age 21 and under and for active duty veterans. The 1 mile walk registration fee is $25 for everyone before April 19, and $30 after that date.

To register or to learn more, visit k-state.edu/rose-run.

People also may support the gardens at the Red, White & Bloom Garden Party. This year’s garden party fundraising event will celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 5.

Tickets are $150 and on sale now at k-state.edu/gardenparty.
