Come tour my rooftop garden as it comes to life this spring 🌸

What started as a rotting garage deck has turned into one of my favorite spaces—and in this video, I’m showing you how it looks right now, what’s thriving (what’s not), and how I set everything up for the season!

Crescent Garden and Edgeright containers were sent to me for free. All other containers I purchased or got from Deronis aka @grandmas_gardener on Instagram.

I have a 15% off discount code for Crescent Garden, CHICAGO15. This is not an affiliate code and I don’t earn any commission from purchases using this code.

  1. Don't give up on those plants yet! Robin Gardens was just telling me that on her northside Chicago Garden some things don't start showing green until june! Currently here in Destin Florida I am waiting on some dinner plate hibiscus to show and I'm going to give them to at least may. They were newly planted last year I'm a little concerned about the early life of these plants here in its first year or two.

I completely understand if you swap them out with something with more color with as much as you use that space but hopefully you can set it in another pot and stick it somewhere to see how long it takes to recover. I would be very curious to find out myself.

  2. I'm in the Philadelphia area and I have hydrangeas in the ground. I fertilized a few weeks ago and I'm seeing green growth but slow so far. I think the warm followed by frost is why. Usually when they're ready they take off. Also I cut back my rose bush in the ground that was very neglected and it's already putting out growth. Really interested in getting columnar apple trees in pots so looking forward to seeing how the rest of the year works out for you! Best of luck with your perennials!

  3. Your garage deck is looking so beautiful! Your greenhouse looks perfect with the pergola and furniture. I was so happy that my Fairytrail Fresco Cascading Hydrangea survived in their pots over the winter. We just brought them out of the unheated garage a couple weeks ago and they're budding out. I can't seem to overwinter boxwoods or small evergreens in my containers. After 4 years of trying many varieties, only small Norway spruces survived which are now in the landscape.

  4. Your garden looks gorgeous!! I also bought some containers to put smaller evergreens, and I’m leaning toward planting emerald petite arborvitae. I’ll let you know how they do haha! Greetings from Toronto!

  5. I’m in the PNW so a couple zones higher than yours. My containers would be a zone 6 since everything in my garden is in containers as well. I do have a couple things in ground, daffodils & alliums. My daffs and muscari are making quite the show! I’ve been loving it so far. I have the Sato pansies that wintered over and cyclamen as well. I am very happy with all the color in my garden right now! ā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸŒ¼šŸ§‘šŸ»ā€šŸŒ¾

  6. Beautiful! I enjoy your videos so much. We had so much heat in March (Zone 9 in CA) that my cool flowers are toast. Love all your pansies!

  7. I see it's a beautiful day there! šŸŒž…biggest mood booster ever and I'll it's all linked ā˜ŗļø

  8. You did a great job with your roof deck patio, roses are so beautiful and fragrant too bad they didn’t do well.

  9. I'm so glad I found your channel. I want to learn how to container garden. I LOVE the rectangle container with the pansies. Would it be safe on my deck? I get 30+ mile an hour winds regularly. The black solid one looks really good too. Do you have a link for it? I saw your link for the sunflower one.
