Salt Lake City, UT –
I purchased this house the end of last fall. The home was unoccupied for months before l moved in, and the sprinklers were left off. The lawn looked nearly dead as of last fall.
My house sits up on the mountain, and I only have this 750 sq ft lawn behind my home.
With it being such a small area does it make more sense to just start over with new sod? Or should I try to treat and feed with the current state?
I’d like to have a beautiful yard within 2 months.
Thank you!

There is no lawn. It’s all weeds. Kill it and seed.
If you’re going to sod instead of seed, which is common here in Utah, you can save a pretty penny by calling the farms and asking if you can pick up a truckload of scrap sod. There are farms near me that charge only $60 per load.
If the yard is 60 to 80 percent weed, re-sod
Lawn?
Round up will stay in dirt. Better just to scrape the top layer and rototill
Call up the fire 🔥 nation
Kill it with fire! I’d nuke it and seed
This is a small enough area I would hit it with round up. Wait 2 weeks then string trim everything to dirt. Then rake up that mess and lay sod down.
Or just let it go? Spread some clover and call it good
I thought I was in r/microgreens at first. Definitely nuke this lawn. Water it for a week, then nuke whatever grows back. Then seed or sod.
Did I miss the lawn?
Seed is always better
