I have a slight cup plant volunteer problem. This mother plant has produced. In last 2 days I’ve counted close to 50 volunteers and rising. Some of them are in bare patches, some of them are tangled up pretty good with root systems of other natives. My preference would be to move all the babies to the far side of yard where they would have room to grow. My concern is that cup plants apparently don’t like being moved so I don’t know how tall I should let them get before attempting. That’s my first question. Then the other issue is if I do try to transplant, do I even bother with the ones tangled up in other natives? I don’t think I can extract them without also pulling up the wild strawberry. My instinct is to cull those and just focus on the bare patch ones.
