I’ve bought these a few months ago and watered it just once(or twice? Can’t remember), is it rotting because of too much water? Or is there some other problem?

edit: will it survive?

Once or twice in a few months is too much for lithops.

That soil is craaaazy wrong for it. Retains way too much water. It wouldn’t matter if you had only watered it once, it would still have sat wet for too long, which succulents in general can’t handle. It also wants a ton more light than it’s been getting.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s the going to make it.

I’m sorry but that lithops is rotten. It’s dead. The soil is wrong and has caused it to rot… You need a very gritty soil with very little organic material, basically all rock. And never water in winter or when it’s splitting… Only water when it’s wrinkly

Thats a Pleiospilos nelii not a lithop although they have similar care and needs.

It looks like you haven’t changed the soil in the pot it came with. If thats so then you really need to put it in something more inorganic. Think 10% soil and 90% perlite lava rocks and pumice. As for watering i haven’t watered mine since last summer.

  5. the white stuff is most likely some type of decomposition.
