I watered my pitcher plant today by showering it and a lot of water got inside the pitcher (nearly 1/2 for one for them as shown in the picture). Is this too much water? Should I pour it back out?

Not necessary, Nepenthes can absorb water from their pitchers, and they can adjust the fluid inside pitchers to be better for digesting bugs.

Practically speaking, one way to support cuttings (how people make new plants) is water them by filling an attached pitcher, to reduce strain on the plant as it grows roots.

They will be ok, they get water in them in nature.
