I just bought some pots online from kmart and this is the drainage hole. I want to put a gardinia in one of them but I know they need good drainage. Should I just drill out some holes? And what is the purpose of a drainage hole that is raised up like that?

I almost always add extra holes to pots, unless they’re the self watering type with a reservoir. That one tiny hole is not going to be enough.

Try using a hammer to bang it off, it could just be from moulding the pot

Is it one of the ones with an insert that sits on the hole to try to keep a little reserve of water?

One of those just drowned my favourite tomato plant. Definitely add more holes.
