Hi guys
I tried to follow Reddit advice to repot my three-plant monstera monster and in the last few weeks everything has gone wrong.
Initially I put the two smaller plants in one big pot together, and left the biggest in the same pot with all the old roots (to avoid attacking roots too much!!)
Then the two little ones started to die…so I had to cut them up and try to save them as cuttings. They still seem to be dying.
My big plant seemed happy being alone in its post. Now, three weeks in and three leaves have yellowed and the roots are getting thinner. It also seems to be dying.
This plant has been with me for five years and I can’t bear to see it go – please help me!

Looks like they’re planted in some kind of moss that will retain moisture for too long & they’re in areas with insufficient light
Far from an expert but what soil mixture did you use? Did you fertilize?
It’s normal for plants to be unhappy while they adjust after being repotted, but they should acclimate within a week.
Hi! Hope I can help. That soil looks all wrong (too dense) and also looks very wet. It’s in distress and needs chunky soil, a mix something like 1 part pearlite, 1 part orchid bark, 1 part pumice, 1 part coco coir *chips* 1/2 part horticultural charcoal and 1/2 part earthworm castings. That’s what I usually use anyway. It is airy enough that accidental overwatering won’t likely rot the roots, and it dries out reasonably quickly between waterings. For now I’d remove that soil and get it into something like what I listed asap. It might be saveable. If not at least you can propagate and take the lessons learned on your next one😄
I feel your pain. I repotted mine of 4 years and caused its roots to rot (wrong soil, too big a pot). Have had to take cuttings and try to restart.
Obviously you had a working system for how you were keeping this plant happy in the previous 5 years so my guess is that it was way to much shock all at once, did you let the cuttings scab over for a day or so before you replanted them?, did you change the soil composition from the original?, right after you replanted them did you do a really heavy watering/feeding?
