MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Dixon Gallery and Gardens celebrated its 50th anniversary with a Golden Anniversary Garden Party.
On Saturday, the museum offered free admission for the community to view 650,000 blooming tulips from the Netherlands planted across its 17-acre property.

“The Dixon is just a bright light in Memphis and we do great things. And planting these tulip bulbs, just the joy on the faces of the people who come see it. It’s free admission and it’s just bright spot in the city,” Dale Skaggs, Director of Horticulture , Dixon Gallery and Gardens said.
A special tulip naming ceremony was held during the event. A yellow variety at the museum was named after one of its founders, Margaret Oates Dixon.
