The 4,000-year-old secret to never overwatering again.

Stop guessing when your plants are thirsty. This Olla setup acts as a biological “smart-irrigation” system, delivering water directly to the roots for up to a week. It’s the ultimate low-tech, high-efficiency hack for a regenerative garden.

A few pro-tips for the summer:

Watch the heat: On triple-digit days, these will drain much faster than usual.

Sun safety: As a viewer pointed out, these bottles can get REALLY hot in direct sun. Try placing them where they are partially shaded by foliage to keep the water temperature down and protect your plants!

  1. It is getting hot out there! These ollas are a lifesaver, but remember to tuck them near some shade so the water stays cool for your plants. What’s the one 'old-school' gardening hack you swear by to keep things alive in a heatwave? Let's swap some notes!

  2. On our 100f days these hollow terracotta water spikes with a wine bottle full of water will last 1 to 2 days. It encourages deep roots, reduces powdery mildew (less water splashed on leaves).

Easy method for vacationing & if someone is looking after your plant containers all they have to do is fill up the bottles. No guessing needed.

  3. The thing is .. it will always stay wet in that one area and it will be bone dry in other places the water doesn’t reach … this isn’t productive

  4. Simple irrigation spike and tubing to small recirculating pump and timer and bucket. Water many plants as you need for very low cost. Add and subtract irrigation drip spikes as needed for plants. 🌱
