LEOMINSTER — Local residents can get ready for the gardening season with an upcoming workshop at Leominster Public Library.
“Adventures in the Vegetable Garden” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the library’s Community Room, 30 West St. Participants will learn step-by-step guidance on selecting, preparing, and planting a garden site, with tips and tricks for successful vegetable and perennial gardening.
The workshop will be led by Judith Taylor, who has more than 25 years of experience gardening in Massachusetts.
Taylor, who manages the Littleton Seed Library and is building a backyard food forest, has taught gardening classes at local universities and is passionate about helping both new and experienced gardeners get the most out of their gardens.
This free, drop-in event is part of the 2026 Community Read program, themed “The Future of Food.” Attendees can also pick up a free copy of “Food Inc. 2” while supplies last. For more information, visit the Leominster Public Library’s calendar at leominsterlibrary.org.
For those who cannot attend in person, a virtual session, “Adventures in Spring Gardening,” will be offered via Zoom from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in partnership with the Groton Public Library and the Chelmsford Public Library. Registrants will receive the webinar link by email, and a recording will be sent within 48 hours of the program. For more information, or to register, visit the Groton Public Library’s calendar at gpl.org.
Both programs provide practical, hands-on advice for growing your own food, reducing grocery costs, and enjoying a fruitful summer garden.
