SOUTH LYON – Spring has sprung and Patio Plus Outdoor Furniture is ready to help customers celebrate the arrival of warmer weather.
The family-owned business officially opens March 28 at 415 E. Lake St., at the site of the former Peter’s True Value Hardware, which closed in September.
“We bought the building and this is our home for life,” said Carol Jacobs, who owns the business, along with her husband Ken and their son, Jesse. “We’re not going anywhere.”The trio brought a multitude of items from their Patio Plus store in Northville, where they had leased for 22 years.
They have artfully displayed a wide variety of outdoor tables, chairs and sectionals across the 15,000-square-foot showroom, along with accessories including firepits, umbrellas and a wide variety of fun decor pieces.
Carol Jacobs describes the patio furniture as high-quality, with the majority of items American-made, including some crafted by the Amish in Ohio.Most pieces have long-term warranties, guaranteed in some cases for up to 20 years.
Patio Plus Furniture offers delivery and set-up services, as well as “stack and wrap,” in which items are shrink-wrapped for winter, although customers may not want to think about that as sunny days arrive.
Carol Jacobs said one of the most enjoyable parts of the patio furniture business is watching customers shop for things that are not a “need,” but a “want,” and seeing them have fun putting their outdoor spaces together, sometimes over the course of multiple visits.
“We’re very excited,” Jesse Jacobs said. “This is our home now and the future of our business. We want our customers happy and that is our number one goal.”
