Would this be a good green for composting. It’s grass we collected from last year.

    it’s going to really stink when you turn those piles over… it’s already composting right where it is

  2. Depends on your setting, how big is your pile…
    No matter what you do anyways, as long as you’re following the ratio of green/brown.

    Plus it’s been composting on its own for a year or so, so that’s a plus. Either throw it/ some in your pile or just add browns on that pile

    More a brown if left for months, most of the nitrogen will have offgassed. Still fantastic for a pile.

    That’s all brown now as far as I’m concerned.

    I think if it’s turned brown it’s a brown. Grass clippings would be green til they turn brown.

    But it never hurts to add anything that will rot to compost.
