LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Families and fans gathered Saturday at Lee’s Family Forum for a farmers market aimed at expanding access to fresh, locally grown food and supporting school sustainability programs.
The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation partnered with Garden Farms of Nevada to host the market in the Gold Lot at Lee’s Family Forum.
The event featured fresh produce grown by students from 19 local schools participating in sustainability programs through Garden Farms.
Garden Farms of Nevada works to empower individuals and communities to grow their own food. The organization supports schools, senior centers, and low-income communities by helping them build and maintain gardens that improve access to fresh, healthy produce.
The VGK Foundation said it continues to support Garden Farms of Nevada beyond the market itself. A portion of the proceeds from the March 17 jersey auction will go toward the organization’s initiatives.
The foundation also matched all produce sales from the market, up to $20,000, with funds going directly back to the schools’ sustainability programs.
Members of the Vegas Golden Knights organization attended, including VGK alumni Alec Martinez, along with the Henderson Silver Knights and Vegas Knight Hawks. Fans also saw appearances from team mascots and cast members, and watched performances by the Knight Line throughout the day.
