


Just wanted to show off my Chinese elm.
I defoliated it in winter and did some branch selection. Look at all the new growth!
i still haven't fully styled the top. Im so unsure how it will look in full leaf so I just avoided it.
I will also go and collect some moss to give it a polished look once it stays warmer.

If you do defolation, I would do it in a high energy season, not winter. Most species are apically dominant, so not pruning the top while you do work on lower branches you risk losing those lower branches.
