Tulip trouble has hit Denver Botanic Gardens.
DBG’s Annuals Garden won’t have any tulips until 2029, officials announced Friday.
The Annuals Garden, located at DBG’s York Street location, is where most of the garden’s tulips are typically displayed.
DBG said a common tulip blight is to blame.
“It’s a fungal disease that infects the bulb but once it’s been planted, it also infects the soil. It is likely the vendors are the source — unknowingly selling diseased bulbs,” DBG said on Instagram. “If you have healthy tulips at home, no concern of blight suddenly starting.”
The Annuals Garden is instead filled with daffodils, hyacinths and lilies.
The good news? There are plenty of other locations within the garden to get your tulip fix.
Areas with tulips:
Freyer – Newman Center along York Street
In front of the visitor center along York Street
Water-Smart Garden
Secret Garden
Iris and Daylily Garden
Steppe Garden
“Some areas are in peak bloom now, others are just starting to bloom,” DBG said.
Daffodils and flowering trees, meanwhile, are in peak bloom throughout the garden.
