I'm back visiting my grandma, I'll be here for a couple weeks. I wanted to try saving this plant she had in the front. I know she's had it for years at this point and I see it's trying to keep growing. I just don't know where to start with this.

It’s going to flower. It’s monocarpic, so it’ll die after the flowers anyway.
Nooo not the rot:(
This looks like an agave that dies after having its bloom. Usually they develop this huge flowering stalk and then die.
I can see either the beginnings or the stump of a stalk in the last pic… plant can’t be saved.
Agave are monocarpic, that means they die after flowering. That’s a flower stalk growing out of it.
Get lots of pictures of the flowers, maybe preserve one in resin or something.
hopefully it popped out babies 🥲
That probably won’t even flower. Looks like agave weevil got to it.
Congratulations 🎉 It seems developing a beautiful flowerstem
After blooming, agaves die BUT they will also offset from the base, so you can expect a lot of clones at its feet
You can carefully rip/cut off one of the good leaves, let it callous a couple days then repot
Nope, as others have said it will die after flowering, but you can document and enjoy its last show.
