Prince Albert and Princess Charlene stepped out on a beautiful day along the French Riviera on Wednesday for the reopening of Monaco’s Exotic Garden. The site, a landmark of the Principality that was first opened in 1933 under Prince Louis II, had been closed for six years for renovations. The royal couple were joined by Prince Albert’s sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover.
The Princely family toured the site’s renovated features, which include new panoramic walkways, a children’s playground, a dedicated birthday party area, a new reception area, and an outdoor terrace and bar area. The renovations were designed to improve visitor safety and experience while preserving the garden’s character. At the end of the visit, the family received a gift of aloe caesia, a succulent native to South Africa.
The outing follows Moanco’s annual Rose Ball last weekend, one of the most important events on the Grimaldi family’s annual calendar and the height of the social season. Also known as Le Bal de la Rose in French, the event marked its 70th anniversary this year. The annual gala benefits the Princess Grace Foundation, which Princess Caroline has chaired since 1983. Princess Charlene wore a shimmery, one-shoulder gown by Elie Saab on Saturday, and she went to the same designer again for the garden opening, wearing a forest green jacket and embroidered trousers by the Lebanese designer.
Charlene also wore a familiar pair of Fendi baguette sunglasses, which she has been seen in before at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix last year and to visit an animal shelter in December. While the Fendi shades are difficult to find online still in black, they are still shoppable in green and brown.

Monaco’s Exotic Garden will reopen to the public on Monday, March 30.
