The yard is mostly shaded by two big live oak trees so sunlight barely gets through to the front of the house. I’m looking to add some low maintenance plants/bushes and I’m stumped. I removed monkey grass and sago palms so I don’t want those going back in.

What growing zone are you in? What are the native plants/bushes in your area? Do you have four seasons, a lot of rain and snow? What are the average temperatures?
For a shady front yard under live oaks you could try ferns like Japanese painted fern or autumn fern, hostas for texture and color, hydrangeas if you want some blooms, or shade-tolerant shrubs like azaleas or camellias. Heucheras add nice foliage color, and boxwoods or hollies can give structure without much fuss. Stick to plants that like part to full shade and they’ll mostly take care of themselves.
