Prepare to journey back into the Unknown and find your turtle fortune when Over the Garden Wall comes to Blu-ray for the first time next month. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed Cartoon Network event series on high definition physical disc on April 7.

Created by Patrick McHale (The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Adventure Time, Adult Swim’s The Elephant), based on his animated short Tome of the Unknown, the series originally premiering on Cartoon Network in 2014 as its first animated miniseries event.

Synopsis: Over the Garden Wall follows half-brothers Wirt (voiced by Elijah Wood) and Greg (Collin Dean) as they become lost in a strange, magical forest known as the Unknown. With the help of a bluebird named Beatrice (Melanie Lynskey), the pair travel through the eerie yet whimsical land in search of a way home.

The voice case also featured Christopher Lloyd as the Woodsman, Grammy winner Jack Jones as Greg’s Frog and opera singer Samuel Ramey as the Beast, as well as roles played by film and theater notables as well as singers and musicians like John Cleese, Tim Curry, Shirly Jones, Thomas Lennon, Jenna Ortega, Chris Isaak and Bebe Neuwirth.

The 10-episode series received broad acclaim, and holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Over the Garden Wall was recognized with several awards, including the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program and Individual Achievement in Animation (Nick Cross).

In 2024, British studio Aardman helped celebrate Over the Garden Wall‘s 10th anniversary with a new, stop-motion short film, An Elephant Never Forgets. The short was  directed by Robin Robin duo Mikey Please and Dan Ojari, who wrote the story with McHale.
