Hi everyone. Me and my wife build a Rainforest terrarium for Poison dart frogs. It’s 100x43x50cm (L,W,H)

We made the background ourselves with this foam and then sealed it and put coconut fiber and moss Spores on it. The ground is a good layer of drainage followed by White Peat which (supposing to the seller) has moss and fern spores in it.

There is no plan on adding frogs anytime soon, because the rain system needs two more nozzles to cover the whole tank and I want some more plants for the background and foreground, as well as some more bromelia plants. Ah and Moss of course! I want that thing covered in moss! (And leaf litter)

Any recommendations for plants or do you see some issues?

I want that thing perfect before animals go in there!

(Lamp is temporary, too, for now it’s for the plants)

Make sure to put some leaf litter on the floor. Is it going to be a bioactive tank?

Hardscape looks fantastic. Not sold on the soil mix. You want something chunky that will drain. I cant really tell but i fear what you have looks pretty dense and will turn to mudd soon enough. You’ll want a lot of leaf litter on top of it too.

Hows the top? I would recommend drilling some ventilation holes near the front to help air move to keep the glass drier so you can actually see the frogs.
Definitely looks like a solid tank though. Good job.

  3. I’m not a fan to be honest. These wide tanks are not ideal for rain forest look, but I would expect a lot more wood and moss as well.
